The BGC Experience is driven by that sweet face, my 18 month old forever baby, Bailey Giavonni Covington. While with me for far too short of a time, he changed the lives of all who interacted with him. Having a child with a terminal illness teaches you more lessons than you ever thought you could learn. I learned to observe in a way that I never had before, looking for what you see and hear, but learning from what you don't see and the words unable to be said.
I learned that we don't have forever to get things perfect, but if we work together we can build and grow as individuals and as a community.
I am a messy masterpiece, a human filled with so many layers, so many wins and so many failures. I am a fighter at my heart and ultimately who you want in your corner.
I am a mother who works hard to raise girls to identify what they want their impact to be on the world; a foster parent who sees the privilege of meeting my kiddos on their worst day; a woman who has learned to beat to her own drum; a sister who feels bad that others don't have her big sister as a big sister; an educator who works every day to be a lifelong learner.
I LISTEN to LEARN and LEAD through TEACHING.
This is not just another organization designed to complete tasks and check boxes. Our name says it, this is an experience.
The Mission is Simple:
Be present in the moment, learning from what we see and hear
Gather and become a part of the community we are supporting
Create an experience where everyone grows
